About the class

Modern theatre dance blends technique with performance. Classes follow the ISTD Modern syllabus and include limbering, travelling sequences, turns, leaps and short amalgamations that build into show pieces. It pairs beautifully with ballet, and most of our modern dancers take both. Examinations are offered each summer from Primary upwards.

What to wear

Navy leotard, black jazz pants or shorts, tan jazz shoes, hair tied back. Boys: black t-shirt and black jazz pants, black jazz shoes.

For a trial, anything comfortable is fine.

Examinations

Modern follows the ISTD syllabus. Examination entry fees are set by the RAD, ISTD and Acrobatic Arts and passed on at cost plus a 5 pound administration charge. We tell you the exact figure before we enter your child, and entering exams is always optional.
